'Elements in Pak. Govt supporting J&K violence'
NEW DELHI, MARCH 22. Talking tough just days before he visits
Islamabad, the U.S. President, Mr. Bill Clinton, today charged
``elements'' within the Pakistan Government with supporting
violence in Kashmir and said the military regime had to take note
of this and resolve differences with India peacefully.
``I believe that there are elements within the Pakistani
Government that have supported those who engage in violence in
Kashmir,'' Mr. Clinton, who will make a brief stop- over in
Islamabad on March 25, said in an interview to ABC television.
``I just don't think that this is the way to deal with Kashmir
and I don't think it's a good enough reason to drive, in effect,
the whole existence, the whole policy of the Pakistani
Government,'' the President said. ``I think.... they (Pakistan)
have to have a non- violent plan for resolving their
differences,'' he said.
