Razzak bereaved
DUBAI, MARCH 22 Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzak lost his father
on Sunday and, therefore, could not reach Sharjah yesterday for
the three-nation Coca Cola Cup cricket tournament, according to
Pakistani skipper Moin Khan.
Moin was quoted as saying in Gulf News that responding to the
call of duty, Razzak would join the Pakistani squad today.
Pakistan is slated to take on archrivals India in a keenly-
awaited encounter tomorrow.
Razzak's excellent performance in the three-nation series in
Australia recently won him the man-of-the-series award. He is now
considered a key all-rounder in the Pakistan team. Meanwhile, the
Pakistani squad for the tour of the West Indies and the Asia Cup
to be held in Bangladesh next month would be announced in Sharjah
on March 26, sources close to the team management were quoted as
saying. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has asked injured all-
rounder Azhar Mahmood and off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq, currently
undergoing treatment in England, to report for the fitness test
in Sharjah on March 25.
Injured opener Saeed Anwar, who is also proceeding to London for
treatment, is almost certain to get selected.
