CM talks to Maran

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD, MARCH 29. The Chief Minister, Mr. N. Chandrababu Naidu, spoke to the Union Commerce Minister, Mr. Murasoli Maran, today on the telephone in the presence of a delegation of tobacco farmers, and complained to him against the functioning of the Tobacco Board. The board was not acting properly to help farmers of Andhra Pradesh, he said.

A delegation of tobacco farmers, headed by Mr. Vadde Sobhanadreswar Rao, Minister for Agriculture, will meet Mr. Maran tomorrow in Delhi. ``Because of the difference in the time for sowing of crops, the Karnataka tobacco crop is coming to harvest first, and this is bought by traders, leaving Andhra farmers in the lurch as the crop comes late to harvest here'', Mr. Chandrababu Naidu explained to Mr. Maran.
