Infiltration bid foiled

JAMMU, APRIL 3. Army troops foiled an infiltration bid in Kerni area of Poonch sector in Jammu and Kashmir and shot dead two Pakistan Army regulars and seven terrorists as they tried to sneak into Indian territory, a Defence spokesman said today.

He said troops deployed in the area noticed about 50 heavily- armed persons around 10 p.m. on March 31 trying to sneak into Indian territory from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Troops from both sides exchanged heavy fire through the night and two Pakistani regulars as also seven Harkat-ul-Mujahideen militants were killed, the spokesman said, adding there was no loss of life on the Indian side.
