Clashing groups teargassed
BARODA, APRIL 5. Police burst 40 teargas shells and resorted to
lathicharge to disperse two groups which clashed with each other,
injuring nine persons, at Bavampura and Panigate areas of the
city last night.
Police said the trouble started when two youths were quarreling
at a tea stall and another person intervened and asked them to
disperse. However, the youths, instead of heeding his advise,
brought some youths and started beating him.
When people from the area from where the person hailed came to
know about it, they started to pelt stones at the youths, who
retaliated and in the skirmish nine persons including a police
constable were injured, police added.
Special police force has been rushed to the area and patrolling
has been intensified.
