Hospital refuses to discharge Kishan Kumar
By Sutirtho Patranobis
NEW DELHI, APRIL 13. The Kailash Hospital authorities at Noida,
near here, refused to discharge actor, Kishan Kumar, late this
evening after going on record that he was ``medically fit'' and
police could take him into custody.
A senior doctor had told the media in the morning that Kishan
Kumar was ``medically fit'' and if the Delhi Police asked for his
custody, the hospital would have no objection. While police
apparently were informed ``verbally'' about his fitness late on
Wednesday night, a formal letter was sent to police this morning.
Officials of the Delhi Crime Branch Police and Enforcement
Directorate had ``informally'' questioned Kishan Kumar for a
while on Wednesday night, with a doctor monitoring the actor's
pulse and blood pressure.
Crime Branch officials returned this morning to the hospital and
the hospital authorities were ready with the discharge letter.
His bills, amounting to about Rs. 35,000, were also cleared.
Police officers conducted the second round of questioning around
1 p.m. and remained closeted with Kishan Kumar for more than six
hours.
Police denied that he was questioned at all during the six hours.
He was just being kept under surveillance, said a Crime Branch
officer. However, the hospital authorities maintained that Kishan
Kumar was fit and could be taken by police any time.
At 7-30 p.m., Inspector Surender Sharma arrived at the hospital
with another colleague. A little later it was announced that the
actor would not be discharged in the night. His condition
apparently had deteriorated during the ``questioning'' in the
evening and his condition would be monitored for at least three
more days.
