Pak. receives flak at UNCHR session
NEW DELHI, APRIL 16. Pakistan came in for flak at the 56th
session of the United Nation Commission for Human Rights (UNCHR),
when some non- governmental organisations (NGOs) appealed to the
world community to treat international terrorism as a global
problem and take a united stand against States sponsoring it.
The European Union for Public Relations, a UN- accredited NGO, in
an indirect reference to Pakistan, said Jammu and Kashmir is
ravaged by sheer aggression and unimaginable violence perpetuated
by foreign mercenaries induced by belligerent nations.
The organisation, during its presentation at UNCHR last week,
said that international terrorism was a modern form of warfare
against liberal democracies. The ultimate but seldom- stated goal
of these terrorists is to destroy the very fabric of democracy,
the NGO said.
Franciscans International and another NGO, demanded repealing of
discriminatory laws, including blasphemy, against religious
minorities.
