Mubarak meets King Abdullah
CAIRO, APRIL 16. The Egyptian President, Mr. Hosni Mubarak, had
talks today with Jordan's King Abdullah on the stalled West Asia
peace process, presidential sources said.
The Jordanian monarch, accompanied by his wife Queen Rania, was
in Cairo for a one-day visit to Egypt. They were welcomed at the
airport by Mubarak and other top Egyptian officials.
Both Cairo and Amman are involved in peace talks between Israel
and Palestinians, providing support to the Palestinian Authority
President, Mr. Yasser Arafat.
Egypt and Jordan were also reportedly involved in behind-the-
scenes efforts to get the stalled Israeli-Syrian peace talks back
on track.
