Every match is fixed: Bindra
NEW DELHI, APRIL 19. In yet another twist to the match-fixing
scandal, a former president of the Board of Control for Cricket
in India, Mr. Inderjit Singh Bindra, today claimed that ``every
single match in cricket is fixed'' and named a former top
official of the Board as also being involved.
At a press conference here, Mr. Bindra said ``every single player
who has played or is playing is involved in some way or the
other''. While he did not substantiate the charges, he named a
former high-ranking BCCI official and alleged he was involved in
betting and match-fixing.
Mr. Bindra promised to come out with more details after the May 2
meeting of the International Cricket Council (ICC), specially
convened in London to discuss allegations of betting and match-
fixing. He said he was willing to give details to ``the CBI, the
Government, Interpol or Scotland Yard''.
Referring to the sacked South African cricket captain, Hansie
Cronje, who admitted to ``dishonesty'' over betting and match-
fixing allegations, Mr. Bindra said, ``Hansie has emerged the
biggest hero in this episode. He will save world cricket.'' But
the former BCCI chief said Cronje ``is a small fish''.
