HC adjourns hearing on Laloo's petition
By Our Special Correspondent
PATNA, APRIL 19. The Patna High Court today deferred hearing the
bail petition of the former Chief Minister and RJD president, Mr.
Laloo Prasad Yadav, lodged in jail in connection with the
disproportionate asset case, allowing the CBI more time to file
its counter-affidavit.
The one-man bench of Mr. Justice S. K. Singh posted the case for
hearing on next Wednesday though he was initially against any
adjournment and mooted the idea of taking up the case on Friday
itself.
The CBI counsel, Mr. Rakesh Kumar, sought more time saying that
the counter-affidavit was under process though his main objection
was redressed by Mr. Yadav's lawyer, Mr. P. N. Pandey, when the
judge hoped that the two sides would eschew political mudslinging
at each other.
