Eastman-Reliance tie up to market resins

NEW DELHI: The U.S. Based Eastman Chemical Company has signed a memorandum with Reliance Industries for marketing two advanced resins used in specialty plastics. The agreement may also lead to Eastman licensing Reliance to manufacture these resins for the sub-continent market. The two patented resins - Spectar co- polymer and Eastar PETG - are specially useful for making thick plastic sheets that are clear, tough and versatile.

Fiat India's integrated training centre

CHENNAI: Fiat India has unveiled its first, completely integrated training centre at Ranjangaon, near Pune. Build at a cost of Rs. 2 crores, the centre with its own highly-skilled and specialised faculty is expecting to train around 400 technicians and 60 expert technicians this year itself. The centre will cater to both the technical and non-technical training of Fiat dealerships and authorised service centres through six fully-equipped workshops and seven fully-equipped classrooms. It is also open to technical and vocational institutes across the country.

AT&T's leadership award programme

CHENNAI: AT&T today launched its sixth annual leadership award programme, providing financial support to students from Asia/Pacific region studying in the U.S. It will offer 36 awards of $5,000 to students from India, Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Koria, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand. The topic will focus on the importance of the Internet in today's global economy. The application kits are available from the United States Educational Foundation in India and via the AT&T website at http://www.ap.att.com/about/award.html. Students can also send questions regarding the awards to awards@ap.att.com. AT&T has also announced the list of names of 36 students who won 1999 awards which includes seven from India.
