Ganguly sparkles again
By P. Subramanyam

side, owing to bad weather conditions, the Benson & Hedges Cup
between Durham and Lancashire County Cricket Clubs at Riverside
in Chester-le- Street, ended in a superb win for Lancashire.
Lancashire achieved this victory, thanks mainly due to a good
performance with the ball and bat by Indian skipper Sourav
Ganguly. Durham made 53 runs for eight wickets in 10 overs.
Ganguly captured three wickets for seven runs. In reply,
Lancashire hit off the required runs in 6.5 overs and won by nine
wickets. Ganguly made an unbeaten 22. In another match, Essex
beat Kent by two runs.
The scores: Durham 53 for eight in 10 overs (S. Ganguly three for
seven) lost to Lancashire 55 for one in 6.5 overs.
Essex 175 for eight in 39 overs (S.D. Peters 42, D. Law 34, M.A.
Ealham four for 17) bt Kent 173 for five in 39 overs (M.A. Ealham
61, A.P. Wells 36).
