Serious lapse caused fire: Pilot

NEW DELHI, APRIL 30. The fire at the Bharatpur ammunition depot appears to be a ``serious lapse'', senior Congress(I) leader, Mr. Rajesh Pilot, today said.

``On the face of it, the incident seems to be a serious lapse on somebody's part,'' Mr. Pilot, who along with some Rajasthan Ministers visited Bharatpur and the affected villages, told Pti here. However, he said that he could not fully comment on the issue without knowing the facts.

He said he would raise the issue in Parliament on Tuesday and request the Defence Minister, Mr. George Fernandes, to adopt the two worst-affected villages - Mandawani and Kasuda - and rehabilitate the people there.

Asked if the party would demand any high-level inquiry into the matter, he said ``the further course of action will be decided after listening to the Government's version on Tuesday''.
