New Chief Justice of Delhi HC

NEW DELHI, MAY 10. Mr. Justice Arijit Pasayat was today sworn in
as the new Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court at a simple
ceremony at Raj Nivas.
Mr. Justice Pasayat was administered the oath of office by
Delhi's Lieutenant-Governor, Mr. Vijai Kapoor. The warrant of
appointment was read by the Chief Secretary, Mr. P.S. Bhatnagar.
The Chief Minister, Ms. Sheila Dixit, her Cabinet colleagues,
Judges of the High Court and the District and Sessions Courts,
the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, Prof. Jagdish
Mukhi, legislators and senior civil officers were present on the
occasion.
Mr. Justice Pasayat, 56, enrolled as an advocate on October 1,
1968. Appointed Additional Judge of the Orissa High Court on
March 20, 1989, he became a permanent judge on September 21,
1990. He was appointed Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court on
September 20, 1999.
