Physician, heal thyself
Sir, - While welcoming the Finance Minister's assurance to reduce
the government expenditure, one has serious doubts about the
success of its implementation. Can Mr. Sinha persuade the Prime
Minister to trim his jumbo Ministry formed to accommodate the NDA
allies? The same is the case with most Chief Ministers of the
States. Is it not possible to restrict the size of the Ministries
at the Centre and in the States, depending on the strength of the
legislature? Will the Government consider curtailing the
unnecessary concessions doled out to our MPs and MLAs which is a
big drain on our exchequer?
The enormous economic waste in various government and semi-
government departments has to be investigated by expert
economists and solutions found. The maximum cut in expenditure
must come from the Central and State Governments.
Thangam Jacob,
Aymanam (Kerala)
