New chief for Indian Oil Petronas
By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI, MAY 10. Mr. Subir Raha, director (human resource and
business development), Indian Oil Corporation, will concurrently
hold the post of Chairman of Indian Oil Petronas Ltd., a 50:50
joint venture of Indian Oil Corporation and Petroliam Nasional
Berhad (Petronas) of Malaysia. Mr. Dato Shamsul Azhar Abbas has
been inducted as a director of board on behalf of Petronas. Mr.
C. K. Dixit, executive director, Indian Oil has been appointed as
CEO of the company.
The Rs. 250 crore project for import, storage and parallel
marketing of LPG is now expected to be commissioned by April
2001, six months ahead of schedule.
This will be the first, and only state-of-the-art bulk LPG import
facility on the Eastern Coast. With the commissioning of this
facility, it will no longer be necessary to move bulk LPG from
sources in Western/Central India, across the country to the
Eastern sector by rail and road, at significant cost to the Oil
Pool Account. Sustained and assured availability of LPG moved ex-
IPL facility at Haldia will enhance customer satisfaction as well
as facilitate commercial and industrial use of LPG in the Eastern
States.
