The Week Ahead

THIS week the Full Moon is in the sign of Scorpio. Approximately once a month, the light of the Full Moon heightens emotions, puts people on edge, and brings about decisive events: people get fired and find new jobs; homicides, suicides and births become more frequent; and the level of activity in hospitals and emergency rooms increases. The Full Moon is a complicated, contradictory time, sometimes offering remarkable clarity, other times causing confusion and impaired judgment. The day or two following the Full Moon is a more rational, sensible time characterised by a feeling of calm and relief.

Because the Moon is in Scorpio, and in opposition to many planets in Taurus, the effects of this Full Moon will seem even more intense than usual. You will probably be feeling very emotional, but will also have extraordinary insight into your psychological motivations, which makes this week a good time for self- reflection. Other Scorpionic themes that may emerge will be jealousy, power struggles, sexuality, and money. This situation might sound daunting, but remember: you live through at least one Scorpio Full Moon every year.

Queries Answered

AN astrologer correctly predicted India's only win in Australia in the One Day cricket series there, and also that India would bat first. How are such predictions made?

Jagdish Lal, Mumbai-5.

One may think, especially in the context of the recent revelations, that the astrologer was helped by "inside" information. However, one can go by the horoscopes of the respective captains, and relate them to the date and time of the match, for estimating the chances of victory for the two sides.

It is obviously not possible to consider the charts of all the players involved, not to speak of the charts of the umpires.

Another method can be to construct a Prasna Chart and use it to make predictions.
