40 killed in bus accident
ROPAR, MAY 14.Forty persons, including women and children, were
feared drowned after a crowded State-run bus plunged into a canal
today, police said.
Ten bodies, including that of six women and a child, were
recovered from the Sirhind Canal. Around 30 persons are feared to
have been swept away by strong water currents and the canal has
been closed. Five passengers were rescued by the local people and
they were admitted to a hospital here.
