CPI crosses swords with Yogam chief

By Our Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, MAY 14. The CPI State secretary, Mr. Veliyam Bhargavan, has taken exception to the SNDP Yogam general secretary, Mr. Vellappally Natesan's allegation that the senior party leader and Law Minister, Mr. E. Chandrasekharan Nair, was prejudiced against the backward communities.

Reacting sharply to Mr. Natesan's reported statement here today, Mr. Bhargavan said Communist Party leaders and Ministers were not in the habit of speaking or acting against the decisions and positions of the party, he added.

He said the CPI stand on the reservation issue was known to everyone. The party was firm that reservation for backward communities should continue and it was strongly opposed to the ``creamy layer'' concept.
