ALL forays into e-commerce

CHENNAI: Commercial vehicle major and Hinduja group flagship, Ashok Leyland has forayed into e-commerce by launching two interactive Internet initiatives - one for exports and the other for the domestic parts operations. The e-commerce site for exports enables customers to view product models full with technical specifications and place order for a configuration of their choice with the nearest dealer located with the help of a search engine. Ashok Leyland responds to the order forwarded online by the dealer by quoting the price. The dealer then confirms the order by opening an LC. The exports e-commerce site can be accessed at www.ashokleyland.com and the Leyparts site at www.leyparts.com.

Ways India ties up with German firm

MUMBAI: Ways India has announced that it has tied up with Brokat Infosystems AG of Germany as its exclusive country partner to provide mobile electronic signature technology in India. It has also acquired membership of the mobile electronic signature consortium of which Brokat is the founding member. The consortium, founded in December 1999, includes mobile phone manufacturers, smart card producers, PKI providers and mobile operators such as CV Cryptovision, Cable & Wireless HK, Hewlett- Packard, and Deutsche Telekom AG.

UB Engineering bags two contracts

MUMBAI: The Pune-based UB Engineering & Construction Company has bagged two turnkey sub-station contracts worth Rs. 44.10 crores at Purnea and Meerat/Mandola from the Power Grid Corporation of India. The contract in Purnea comprises 400/220/132 kV sub- station work valued at Rs. 28.90 crores while the Meerat/Mandola

comprises 400 kV sub-station Rs. 15.20 crores, the company said in a release. Both projects are to be completed within 12 months, it added.

Esconet's B2B portal

NEW DELHI: Esconet, wholly-owned subsidiary of Escorts, has announced a B2B marketplace portal, Autimatrixindia.Com, in partnership with net market developer Vistaar and e-business solutions provider I2 Technologies. The vertical portal, with equity capital of Rs. 25 crores, will initially trade in agri- machinery of Escorts and will be launched in the third quarter of this year, a senior Escorts official said.

Vysya Bank to sign MoU with Satyam Infoway

BANGALORE: Vysya Bank would strike a strategic alliance with Satyam Infoway for using the latter's e-commerce infrastructure relating to B2B and B2C applications, among others. Under the MoU, Satyam would develop an interactive web site for the bank, according to a bank release.

InfraSoft launches CORONet2.0

MUMBAI: InfraSoft has launched CORONet2.0, a state-of-the-art Internet banking system aimed at creating Internet enabled banks and making the geographical location of customers or the banks irrelevant. According to a press release, the company has developed and implemented 12 banking software products on a common technology backbone. More than 52 banks are using the company's products at over 2,000 branches in India. The company is vertical industry advanced solutions development partner for Microsoft and Novell in India.
