Hossain to miss Asia Cup
DHAKA, MAY 15. Opener Mehrab Hossain, the lone century-maker for
Bangladesh in one-day internationals, will miss the Asia Cup
cricket tournament starting later this month owning to a knee
injury.
Hossain was omitted from an 18-member list of probables announced
by the Bangladesh Cricket Board today for the May 28 to June 7
event at the Bangabandhu stadium.
The final 14 will be announced at the end of a brief camp, the
BCB said here.
Hossain was among the seven omitted from the preliminary list of
25 along with young seamer Aminul.
Bangladesh meet Sri Lanka on May 28 in the four-nation event
where India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are the other teams.
The probables: Aminul Islam (Capt), Javed Omar, Shahriar Hossain,
Habibul Bashar, Al-Shahriar, Akram Khan, Naimur Rahman, Khalid
Mashood (w-k), khaled Mahmud, Mushfiqur Rahman, mohammed Rafique,
Enamul Haque, Fahim Muntasir, Sabbir Khan, Hasibul Hossain,
Bikash Ranjan das, Safiuddin ahmed and Monjirul Islam.
