The Week Ahead - Astro Focus
THIS week the Sun moves from the sign of Taurus to the sign of
Gemini. This is a good month to focus on the different types of
communications that you use everyday. Are your methods
appropriate or is it time to start using some updated ones?
Gemini also rules sibling relationships.
At the end of the week, Uranus, which rules individuality,
technology, and sudden events, goes retrograde, or seems to
reverse its direction. This is a significant period when there is
a strong emphasis on the energy of that planet. Uranus went
Direct (in its usual direction) at the end of October 1999. This
means that you are likely to revisit any situations or projects
that you were involved in at that time.
Uranus brings a breath of fresh air into parts of our life that
have gotten stale or routine. This is usually for the better in
the long run, although we don't enjoy having our lives disrupted
by Uranus. The best thing to do during a time of strong Uranian
energy is to let go of control. Each sign has Uranus going
Retrograde in a different house, which means that each sign will
experience the Uranian jolt in a different area of life.

Queries Answered
What is meant by a Bhava Chart, and how much importance is to be
given to it?
- M. Nadiger, Bangalore
A Rasi Chart is based on the Signs of the Zodiac, with the Lagna
placed in one of them. Now the Lagna could be placed in any of
the degrees of the sign it takes in the Rasi Chart. A Bhava Chart
is derived from the Lagna's placement more precisely worked out,
in degrees and minutes in that particular sign, which is called
the First House. We also use the 10th Bhava. Because of this
difference, in the Rasi Chart a planet may be in the 9th, but in
the Bhava Chart he may be in the 8th or 10th. There are also some
cases in which no difference in the placement of planets in the
Rasi and Bhava Charts. By experience, astrologers learn to
synchronize the reading of the Charts, especially when there are
differences between them.
