Towards a cleaner and greener Delhi

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, MAY 20.

Bangalore-based signature expert Keith Rosario today pledged his support to the ``Clean and Green Delhi'' campaign initiated by Artists for Empowerment in the Capital.

A graphologist for the past 26 years, Keith endorsed the Signature Campaign launched by the NGO as part of its ongoing ``Clean Delhi this Summer'' drive.

The signature campaign -- which is being run from May 6 to June 4 -- aims at highlighting and sensitising the public on issues of health and sanitation in Delhi. The purpose is to involve the consumers and promote their participation in the ``Green Delhi'' campaign.

The responses will be collected and presented to the Delhi Chief Minister, Ms. Shiela Dixit, on June 5 as a sign of commitment to the cause on World Environment Day.

Announcing his support at a press conference here today, Keith gave an insight into a person's handwriting and signature. He explained that a signature revealed a person's social persona -- the slant, baseline, spacing, size and zones signify and divulge a personality.

Having acquired the expertise of examining handwritings with 90- 95 per cent accuracy, he revealed that he has successfully applied the technique in the areas of corporate, psychiatric and defence affairs.

Ms. Sreerupa Mitra Chaudhary, Chairperson of Artists for Empowerment, pointed out that ``the main focus of the event is to create a more widespread awareness of the seriousness of environmental issues facing us today''.

As part of the ``Clean Delhi'' campaign, Artists for Empowerment plans to adopt 200 child ``dhaba'' workers to educate them on issues relating to hygiene, sanitation and cleanliness. These children will also be given life insurance policies as social security, medical cards which will entitle them to free medical check-ups twice a year and free treatment in leading hospitals of Delhi.

The Artists for Empowerment, in association with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, will also organise education programmes for ``dhaba'' owners and unauthorised roadside food vendors.

There will be a concerted drive towards hygiene through regular inspection of food vendors by NGOs in collaboration with MCD's health and sanitation department.
