IAF ready to face any challenge: Tipnis
By Our Staff Reporter
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, MAY 24. ``The Indian Air Force (IAF) is
always prepared for taking up any responsibility. It does not
need any intimation in advance,'' said the Air Chief Marshal A.Y.
Tipnis, Chief of the Air Staff. He also described his recent
visit to Sri Lanka as a routine one that was scheduled well in
advance. He was in Thiruvananthapuram today, on a brief visit to
the Headquarters of the Southern Air Command (SAC), where he
addressed a three-day conference of Station Commanders. He
exhorted the staff of the SAC to be full alert to face any
eventualities and threats.
Talking at length on the challenges to external and internal
security, he emphasised the vital role of the IAF in meeting
these challenges. Expressing concern over the increasing threats
posed by terrorism, he stressed the need for effective
communication amongst all the ranks of the force. He underscored
the importance of building up camaraderie and mutual respect at
all levels. He assured all support to the projects initiated by
the SAC to upgrade the facilities to meet its operational role.
