10 killed in J&K violence
SRINAGAR, MAY 24. Ten people, including six militants and two
policemen, were killed and four cops wounded in separate
incidents, while militants abducted three persons in Jammu and
Kashmir since last evening, an official spokesman said here
today.
Three militants and an Afghan national were arrested by security
forces. A huge cache of arms and ammunition were seized from
them.
Normal life was disrupted today in Srinagar and other parts of
the Valley following a two-day Hurriyat Conference- sponsored
strike, even as the Hurriyat leader, Mr. Yaseen Malik, began a
36-hour hunger strike to protest ``growing incidents of custodial
killings'' in the State.
Meanwhile, police arrested two persons in connection with the
killing of Power Minister, Ghulam Hassan Bhat, last week, which
they said was masterminded by Hizbul Mujahideen.
