Energy saving lift from Johnson
By Our Staff Reporter
CHENNAI, MAY 24. The Chennai-based Johnson Lifts has introduced
its new six-passenger capacity lift for buildings of up to six-
storeys. Christened `Evergreen,' the lift has a JD-40 VF
controller equipped with an electronic brain that saves up to 50
per cent energy. The JD-40 VF controller enables the lift to
operate smoothly without jerky starts and stops.
Addressing a press conference got up to launch the new range here
today, Mr. John K. John, Managing Director, said the new brand
came with a built-in rescue device that would safely take the
lift to the nearest floor level during a power interruption. It
also adhered to the latest Indian Standard set by the All-India
Lift Manufacturers Association and the Tamil Nadu Lifts Act,
which forbade collapsible gates in lifts.
Johnson has a market share of 40 per cent in South and 12 per
cent nationally. Of this, nearly 60 per cent comes from the
residential sector. The company which had four manufacturing
units in Chennai, opened its fifth state-of-the-art plant in the
city costing Rs. 12 crores recently. The new unit has a capacity
to produce 2,000 units a year.
