Sri Lanka blast kills 8
By Nirupama Subramanian
COLOMBO, MAY 30. Eight policemen were killed and 10 injured when
a Claymore mine blasted the truck in which they were travelling
near Vavuniya in northern Sri Lanka today.
The attack shows that even while fighting a conventional war ,
the LTTE will employ guerrilla tactics to keep up pressure on the
security forces on other fronts. A government press release said
the attack was carried out at 10 a.m. when policemen were going
to Vavuniya from the suburb of Puwarasankulam on Vavuniya-Mannar
road.
