Schools to reopen on June 5
By Our Staff Reporter
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, MAY 30. Schools in Kerala will reopen after
the summer vacation on June 5 and not on June 1, as announced
earlier.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of
representatives of teachers' organisations, convened here today
by the Minister for Education, Mr. P. J. Joseph.
Delay in fresh admissions due to census duty and DPEP training
for teachers has necessitated postponement of the re-opening of
schools, the Minister said.
The last date for school admissions has been extended to June 5,
he added.
A notification allowing parents to admit their wards in the
second to the seventh classes in unrecognised schools, after
giving a declaration, has been issued.
This would facilitate admission in recognised schools, without
having to produce a transfer certificate, in due course, the
Minister said.
