Laloo submits memo
By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI, JUNE 9. The Rashtriya Janata Dal president, Mr. Laloo
Prasad Yadav, met the President, Mr. K. R. Narayanan, today and
reportedly demanded the recall of the Bihar Governor, Mr. V. C.
Pande, alleging ``misconduct.''
Mr. Yadav rushed to the capital after a court in Patna rejected
his plea against the framing of charges in a disproportionate
assets case involving himself and his wife, Mrs. Rabri Devi. As
he came out of Rashtrapati Bhawan, Mr. Yadav ruled out the
resignation of Mrs. Rabri Devi.
Apparently, Mr. Yadav was heading a delegation of six to seven
RJD members. He submitted a memorandum to the President
suggesting that the Governor had undermined and `murdered' the
Constitution when he invited the NDA leader, Mr. Nitish Kumar to
lead the Bihar Government immediately after the Assembly
elections in spite of the fact that the NDA was in a minority.
Later, Mr. Yadav said Mrs. Rabri Devi would not quit office as a
``legal procedure was on'' and ``a person is innocent until
proven guilty by the highest court.''
