Christian Council 'surprised' at Naidu's denial
By Our Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD, JUNE 14. The All-India Christian Council has said that
it was ``surprised'' that the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Mr.
N. Chandrababu Naidu, had denied having said that he had
``nothing to do with communal elements if they are proven to have
a hand in the bomb explosions'' in churches in Andhra Pradesh.
In a statement, the Council said: ``In the meeting of the
representatives of Christian leaders with the Chief Minister on
June 12, the matter of support to the NDA Government came up for
discussions.
``The Chief Minister said he is not of the type to issue threats
to the Centre, for every smallthing and, in the same breath, he
also said that he will have nothing to do with anyone that will
be proven as involved in these bomb blasts, no matter what party
or organisation, no matter how big or small they are''.
