Fire at Indian religious gathering in U.S.
CASTRO VALLEY (CALIFORNIA), JUNE 14. A propane explosion and fire
in a cooking tent at a gathering for a religious leader from
India injured eight people, including six who were hospitalised
in critical condition with severe burns.
The eight victims had been cooking for followers of Mata
Amritanandamayi, a religious leader visiting from India. About
200 to 300 people were scattered around the area yesterday
afternoon.
The six in the hospital were listed in critical condition. The
two others suffered minor injuries, said an official of the
Alameda County Fire Department.
Fire investigators were trying to determine what triggered the
explosion.
