Microsoft: Govt. seeks review
WASHINGTON, JUNE 14. As Microsoft and the Government accused each
other of game playing, both sides took action in different courts
on the company's appeal of last week's ruling that the software
giant should be dismantled for abusing its monopoly power.
The U.S. Justice Department yesterday asked a judge to certify
the case for an ``immediate'' Supreme Court review that would by
pass the court of appeals.
The Government's move came as Microsoft asked a U.S. appellate
court yesterday to hear its appeal of last week's anti- trust
judgment against it and delay enforcement of the ruling.
Microsoft's petition asks the appellate panel to stay, or
postpone the enforcement of the judge, Mr. Thomas Penfield
Jackson's landmark ruling pending a resolution of the appeal
process.
