Padukone does the inevitable

By Our Special Correspondent

BANGALORE, JUNE 14. The Indian Badminton has lost the services of its guiding light Prakash Padukone. He has stepped down from the post of Executive President of the Badminton Association of India. Padukone's resignation letter was sent to the BAI President Mr. V.K. Verma on Tuesday.

Padukone has stated in his letter that the decision to resign was purely a personal one. His letter said: ``It is almost three years since the new BAI was formed, whereupon I accepted the responsibility of Executive President. Over three years, I have realised that handling the responsibility of the Executive President of BAI is not my forte. Consequently, I feel it is not advisable for me to continue with this burden, I therefore submit my resignation from the post of Executive President of BAI effective immediately.''

``I want to emphasise that this is purely a personal decision. What little I have been able to contribute to the BAI was only possible because of full cooperation received from yourself and every quarter of BAI. I am confident that BAI under your capable leadership will take Indian badminton to greater heights''.
