Seven women relieved of gold chains in City

BANGALORE, JUNE 16. Seven women were relieved of their gold chains in separate incidents reported from various parts of the City on Thursday and Friday.

Mr. Gurulingappa, a businessman from Gulbarga, was also robbed of gold jewellery, cash and other goods in Jagjivan Ram Nagar police station limits on Thursday night.

Three youths, who came on a motorcycle, snatched a gold chain from Ms. Rathna B.Kumar at North Road bus stand in Shankarapuram police station limits on Thursday.

Robbers snatched gold chains from Ms. M.K.Shantala at Basaveshwaranagar II Stage in Kamakshiplaya police station limits and from Ms. Bharathi in Koramangala 8th Block, I Main in Koramanagala police station limits on Thursday night.

Ms. Sathya Prema's gold chain was snatched in Rajajinagar on Friday morning. A bag containing a gold chain was snatched from Ms. B.Jayamma when she was commuting in a BMTC bus (No. 176) in Vijayanagar police station limits on Thursday.

Two youths snatched a gold chain from Ms. Subbamma Rathnamma at RPC Layout, 7th Main, in Vijayanagar police station limits on Thursday night. Police have registered separate cases. Investigations are on.

In the robbery incident, Mr. Gurulingappa, who boarded an autorickshaw at Shivananda Circle was taken to Mysore Road, and was robbed of three gold rings, Rs. 10,000 in cash and a mobile phone by the autorickshaw driver and his three friends.

Police said that after Mr. Gurulingappa hired the autorickshaw, the three also got with the vehicle. The driver did not take Mr. Gurulingappa to Majestic area as requested but to Mysore Road instead. The Jagjivan Ram Nagar police have registered a case.

Five injured in LPG cylinder explosion

Five members of a family, including an eight-month-old baby, suffered serious burns in a fire caused by an LPG leak at their house in Sriramapuram police station limits in the City on Friday morning.

Police said that Mr. Jagadish Kumar (33), a mechanic in a workshop, found out that the LPG cylinder in the house was leaking at 4 a.m. After waking up his wife, Ms. Revathi (30), he switched on the lights. This caused an explosion. The asbestos roof of the house located at Sriramapuram II Cross was blown off.

Mr. Jagadeesh Kumar, Ms. Revathi, their daughter, Aishwarya (10), and their eight-month-old baby, Praveen, suffered over 50 per cent burns. They have been admitted to Victoria Hospital. Their condition is said to be critical, according to police.
