Construction portal begins operations
By Our Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD, JUNE 24. Indiaconstruction.com, the country's first
B2B construction portal in which HDFC holds a 12.5 per cent
shareholding, has begun its operations in Hyderabad. The portal
enables the buyers to choose construction materials on the web
and place orders from their choice of sellers who are registered
on the site.
Announcing this at a press conference here on Friday, the company
CEO and MD, Mr. Rohit Gera, said material requirements as posted
by the buyers would be informed to the registered sellers either
by email or by fax. In case the sellers do not have fax facility,
they would be contacted on phone or even paged. This, he said,
would enable the small suppliers to avail the portal services.
Replying to questions he said the portal started operations two
months ago in Pune and it had already 1500 suppliers registered
with it and recorded transactions worth Rs. 12 crores.
