Siemens to invest $1.5 billion in Asia
BEIJING: German telecom giant, Siemens will invest $1.5 billion
in Asia by the year 2003, in a bid to exploit the largest
potential market for mobile business solutions, a senior company
official said. The investment plan was announced here by the
president of Siemens Information and Communication mobile group,
Mr. Rudi Lamprecht. This will be the largest investment of its
kind by Siemens in Asia.

MTNL pact with American Express
NEW DELHI: Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (MTNL) and American Express
Travel Related Services entered into an alliance on Tuesday for
India's first co-branded telecom credit card - MTNL American
Express credit card. The credit card would offer consumers a
credit of 1.7 per cent on phone charges billed to the card each
year. The card also provides members the convenience of charging
their phone bills to the co-branded card with no service charge,
together with preferential access to MTNL services.

Bitech acquires Transworld Solutions
CHENNAI: BITECH is acquiring Transworld Solutions of the U.S to
provide impetus to e-com projects execution in Europe and the
U.S. To start with, the company would focus in West Asia and the
Far East to execute offshore development projects.

Compunnel Software on expansion drive
NEW DELHI: Compunnel Software has said it would dilute 15 per
cent stake to financial institutions (FIs) for raising $6 million
to fund its expansion plans including setting up overseas
development centres and marketing arms. ``We are currently
negotiating with various FIs and expect the deal to come through
by mid-July,'' Mr. Rajiv Savara, vice president said.

Dowell Tech's new software product
CHENNAI: Dowell Technologies, a software consulting firm, has
launched its premium product `aroma' developed inhouse. This
integrated product with sub-systems of HR, time & attendance and
payroll, has been designed and developed on the latest web-
technology with internet/intranet features enabled, for easier
work flow across the organisation, according to a company
release. The product presentation was made at the recent meeting
of the National Institute of Personal Management held in Chennai.
