Enron gets nod to offer energy related services
By Our Staff Reporter
CHENNAI, JUNE 30. The Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB)
has cleared a proposal from Enron India Pvt. Ltd. to enter the
energy efficiency and facilities management business in India.
Enron sources indicated that the Indian subsidiary will enter
into contracts with customers to manage their energy chains. The
company is expected to team up with strategic global technology
partners to develop this business in a comprehensive way in
India. Typically, it will lend its customers assistance in the
area of finance, upgradation and management of the energy
infrastructure.
The FIPB approval provides Enron a wide array of opportunities in
fields such as energy efficiency and lightings, HVAC (heating,
ventilation and air-conditioning), co-generation, and waste heat
recovery and utilisation.
Enron is eyeing heavy industries such as cement, steel and
textile as well as large commercial complexes for its energy
efficiency services.
