ITI ties up with Ericsson

BANGALORE, JUNE 30. The public sector telecom equipment major
ITI, which has tied up with Ericsson to jointly market Internet
telephony platform and other products, for exploring and pursuing
opportunities in the country today, has chalked up plans to enter
the software area in a big way. About five companies are keen to
have tie-up with ITI, the Chairman and Managing Director of the
company, Air Cmdr Mr. S. S. Motial, said.
Mr. Motial said the tie-up would be formalised soon without
devulging the name of the parties. However, he said the companies
included both domestic and foreign. ``It will be mutually
beneficial as they can leverage our expertise in telecom and vice
versa,'' he said.
On the divestment, he said no decision had so far been taken by
the Government. ITI has tied up with Compaq for network
management system. Mr. Jan Campbell, Managing Director of
Ericssion, said ITI and would jointly deliver turnkey solutions
including hardware, software and professional service to DOT,
MTNL and VSNL.
