Pandits hail rejection of autonomy

NEW DELHI, JULY 4. Kashmiri Pandits today welcomed the rejection of the Jammu and Kashmir autonomy resolution by the Union Cabinet and demanded the sacking of the Farooq Abdullah Government to ``prevent the recurrence of such acts.''

``Although belated, the rejection of the resolution by the Cabinet is a welcome decisive step,'' Panun Kashmir's political affairs chairman, Dr. Ajay Chrangoo, said. Demanding the sacking of the National Conference Government in the wake of such a move, he said ``it is dangerous to allow Dr. Abdullah to remain in power as he may again resort to such tactics which cause embarrassment to the Centre.''

The Kashmir United Forum president, Mr. B.L. Khachroo, also hailed as ``timely'' the rejection of the resolution by the Centre.
