Social boycott of writer condemned

By Our Staff Reporter

BANGALORE, JULY 9. As many as three associations have condemned the social boycott by Muslims of writer, Ms. Banu Mushtaq of Hassan.

In a release here on Sunday, the organisations have described the move as inhuman. They said it was natural for Ms. Banu Mushtaq to have questioned the tradition of disallowing women into masjids.

They regretted that while the Hindu fundamentalists were attempting to divide the country on communal lines, such attitude on the part of Muslims was causing harm to society.

They threatened that the social organisations would be forced to agitate against the move, if it was not withdrawn. The release has been signed by Dr. Siddanagouda Patil of Indian People's Theatre Association, Ms. Shoukath Ali Alur of AISF and Mr. Shivaraj Biradar of AIYF.
