Four of gang arrested hours after crime

BANGALORE, JULY 9. A gang of dacoits, which robbed a youth of his valuables in Subramanyanagar Police limits on Saturday night, was nabbed by police within a few hours after the crime was reported.

Police said that Mr. Naveen (21) was accosted by the gangsters when he was walking by the 10th Main Road in Subramanyanagar at about 9.45 p.m.

The culprits threatened Mr. Naveen with lethal weapons and relieved him of a gold chain and a silver bracelet, together worth Rs.6,500, before fleeing.

Following a complaint by Mr. Naveen, the Subramanyanagar Police, in a swift action, arrested Umesh, Beerappa, Seena and Avinash, all aged about 18 years and residents of Gayathrinagar. One of the gang member is said to have escaped.

Police have recovered the chain and bracelet from the arrested. All of them are said to be first-time offenders.

Mishap victim dies

One more victim of the road accident that occurred on Hosur Road in Ashoknagar Police limits on Saturday night died at about 2.40 a.m. on Sunday.

The dead have been identified as Mr. Saleem Sheik (22) and his father, Mr. Sheik Sab (45), residents of Shivajinagar 5th Cross. Saleem was killed on the spot after a vehicle dashed against his scooter at about 11.30 p.m. Sheik Sab was riding with Saleem.

Two others riding a motorcycle, which was also involved in the mishap, have been identified as Mr. Satish and Mr. Das of Wilson Garden. Though they have suffered injuries, they are said to be out of danger. A case of hit and run has been registered by police.

Killed in road mishap

An employee of the Central Bank of India suffered serious injuries after he was hit by a Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation bus near the Mysore Lamps at 10th Cross, Malleswaram at about 7.45 p.m. on Saturday.

Mr. R.Gopi (34), who was working in the Bank's K.G.Road branch, died on way to K.C.General Hospital. Police have arrested the bus driver, Mr. Ganesh and detained the vehicle.

Fatally hit

A 10-year-old girl who was hit by a motorcycle on Kammanahalli Main Road on Wednesday died of injuries at a hospital on Sunday morning. The girl, Maria Niraimathy, was crossing the road when the motorcycle hit her. Banaswadi Police have registered a case.

Arrested

The Upparpet Police have arrested three persons who had obtained student concession bus passes by producing fake documents.

Police said that the three had created fake documents stating that they were students of Kuvempu First Grade College, off Hesarghatta Road, in Mallasandra, and obtained passes to commute by BMTC buses.

Suicide

Manjamma (18) and her husband, Annayappa (29) from Hoskote, died at the Victoria Hospital here on Sunday. They were admitted after they allegedly consumed poison. They were married for eight months.
