Flower, Campbell take Zimbabwe to victory
LONDON, JULY 9. Even though England found a new star in its first
match of the triangular series - against Zimbabwe at the Oval -
it ran into trouble when Paul Strang's leg breaks ripped out
three batsmen in 13 balls to cut back its total to 207 on
Saturday.
A stand of 123 between the captain Andy Flower and Alistair
Campbell sent Zimbabwe to an easy win by five wickets with 10
balls in hand and now, after two wins against England and West
Indies, it can dictate the rest of the 10-match series.
Zimbabwe was in trouble at 35 for three but as Campbell and
Flower took charge the certainty of its commonsense victory
became clear.
The team is a fine one-day side for all the easy successes by
England and South Africa earlier this year and it is already on
the brink of an appearance in the final of this NatWest
competition.
