Putin's 'threat'

By Thomas Abraham

LONDON, JULY 16. The Russian President, Mr. Vladimir Putin, has threatened to cancel his visit to India later this year if five Russian pilots, who are now serving jail sentences in India for the Purulia arms drop, are not released, the Sunday Telegraph has reported.

The newspaper quoted a Russian diplomat as saying that `Putin's visit will not take place'' if the pilots are not released. A British national, Mr. Peter Bleach, is also in prison for the arms drop.
