Inflation falls below 6 p.c.

NEW DELHI, JULY 16. The annual rate of inflation fell below 6 per cent for the first time in nine weeks to 5.92 per cent for the week ended July 1, as prices of agricultural commodities continued to ease with the onset of monsoon in most parts of the country.

The rate of inflation, based on Wholesale Price Index, fell by 0.28 percentage points during the week to 5.92 per cent (provisional).
