Nagarjuna Fertilizers' net declines in Q1
Nagarjuna Fertilizers and Chemicals has reported lower income
from operations of Rs. 215.55 crores and a fall in net profit to
Rs. 11.14 crores for the first quarter ended June 30, as against
Rs. 228.82 crores and Rs. 23.98 crores respectively in the
corresponding period of the previous year. Other income was Rs.
4.55 crores (Rs. 4.34 crores).
According to a company press release, production for the quarter
was 2.67 lakh tonnes (2.86 lakh tonnes). Plant turnaround was
undertaken for 27 days in the first plant and 18 days in the
second plant in May. This has resulted in lower production of
urea in this quarter, it said.
Pending recommendations of Dr. Y. K. Alagh committee which went
into capacity utilisation of urea plants, Government of India
notified revised price for both the plants of the company
effective April 1, 2000.
The company has reckoned the subsidy income based on revised
notified price, it said.
Vashisti Detergents
Vashisti Detergents (VDL) has reported a net profit of Rs. 1.60
crores for the quarter ended June 2000 against Rs. 1.32 crores,
an increase of 21 per cent over the corresponding period in the
previous year.
Gross sales were higher at Rs. 72.92 crores against Rs. 53.77
crores. The gross profit was Rs. 2.78 crores against Rs. 2.31
crores.
BFL Software
Despite rise in earnings, BFL Software's net profit had slid by
43.5 per cent during the first quarter at Rs. 2.37 crores against
Rs. 4.20 crores. The operating profit was lower at Rs. 6.05
crores against Rs. 6.29 crores. The turnover was higher at Rs.
40.61 crores against Rs. 29.42 crores, a rise of 48 per cent.
Software development expenses went up to Rs. 28 crores from Rs.
19.6 crores. Administrative and other expenses too were higher at
Rs. 6.6 crores against Rs. 3.49 crores.
