AIEB tourney from tomorrow

MADURAI, JULY 16. The 27th all- India Electricity Board hockey tournament will get underway at the MGR Race Course Stadium here from July 18.

Mr. Albert Victor Sandanam, Chief Engineer, EB, Madurai and the chairman of the organising committee of the tournament said that this was the seventh time TNEB was conducting this tournament.

Mr. Kannaiyan, Deputy Director of Sports, TNEB, said that Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Calcutta ESC, Tata, Bombay, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi Vidyuth Board, Bhakra Beas Management Board and host Tamil Nadu, would be participating in the tournament to be held on a league cum knock out basis. The pools for the league will be known only on Monday evening after the team managers' meeting.
