Rangarajans to shift to guest house
By Our Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD, JULY 25. The Governor, Dr. C. Rangarajan, and his
wife, Haripriya, will shift to the North Guest House on the Raj
Bhavan premises till repairs are carried out to the bedroom and
other chambers by the Roads and Buildings authorities.
Senior engineers of the Roads and Buildings Department inspected
the Raj Bhavan this morning to plan out repairs to the buildings
so as to avoid any further mishaps. Officials of the State
Government emphasised that the day-to-day upkeep of the
Governor's bungalow was the responsibility of a maintenance wing
in the Raj Bhavan.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Haripriya Rangarajan, who sustained a leg injury
when a piece of plaster from the ceiling fell on her while she
was asleep in a freak accident on Monday, is recovering and is
likely to be discharged from the Nizam's Institute of Medical
Sciences (NIMS) on Wednesday.
The Chief Minister, Mr. N. Chandrababu Naidu, visited NIMS once
again today to call on her and enquire from doctors about her
condition. The Governor, having cancelled his engagements for the
day, was also in the hospital.
The Vice-President, Mr. Krishan Kant, the Prime Minister, Mr. A.
B. Vajpayee, the Union Minister, Mr. B. Dattatreya, and other
leaders are understood to have telephoned Dr. Rangarajan to
enquire about his wife's health and wish her speedy recovery.
