Anti-PWG front formed
By Our Staff Reporter
KARIMNAGAR, JULY 26. Several surrendered naxalites belonging to
the People's War Group, victims of naxalite violence, landlords,
police and others have decided to constitute an ``Anti-People's
War Group '' to take on the outlawed PWG.
Talking to newsmen here on Wednesday, the People's War Group
former Karimnagar district committee member (DCM), Mr Bayyappu
Sammi Reddy alias Ganesh, called upon naxalites to conduct covert
operations and kill their leaders and surrender to the police
along with arms and ammunition and the money collected by them.
He assured all security to the naxalites who kill their leaders
and surrender.
Coming down heavily on the PWG for its ``anti-people'' policies,
he said they had killed between 6,000 and 7,000 persons branding
them police informers. But in reality, hardly 10 per cent of the
victims were police informers, he said adding that the PWG chief,
Ganapathi alias Muppalla Laxman, and other central leaders should
say how many persons really acted as informers. ``The PWG should
come to people and accept their mistakes or else they would face
the wrath of people,'' he pointed out.
Mr. Sammi Reddy alias Ganesh, surrendered before the police in
1998 on health grounds and disillusioned by the party ideology,
had worked with the PWG since 1987 as courier dalam member, dalam
commander and district committee member in Srikakulam, Khammam
and Karimnagar districts.
Referring to ``threats'' held out by the PWG to the surrendered
naxalites to return the reward amount and not to receive any loan
assistance as part of rehabilitation, he ridiculed the PWG saying
that the reward amount was being spent only for settlement of
cases in court for involvement in various offences. He said not
more than 5 per cent of the surrendered naxalites were
rehabilitated with the reward amount and living happily in
society. The PWG had no right to ``force us not to accept the
reward amount and take loan assistance when the Government is
encouraging people to lead a normal life.''
He said so far he had remained silent and not harmed the PWG, but
now in view of false allegations and mounting threats, they had
decided to launch an agitation against the PWG and kill them by
conducting raids on their shelters, etc. ``As we are targets of
PWG, we will get weapons from the Government for our safety, if
they run into them we will not hesitate to kill them,'' he said.
With regard to the returning of reward amounts by the surrendered
naxalites, Mr Sammi Reddy said the naxalites should also collect
the reward amount from several senior naxalites who surrendered
such as Mr. Kondapalli Seetharamaiah (KS), Mr. Bhaskar Rao, Mr.
Mukku Subba Reddy and others. He also alleged that KS had taken
about Rs. 30 lakhs from the PWG before his surrender and had not
returned it to the party so far. He also alleged that several top
naxalite leaders in Rayalaseema region had taken party money.
He also charged that several leaders such as Mr. Gaddar, the
APCLC, the Virasam and other civil rights groups leaders were
earning in lakhs of rupees in the name of the PWG.
On the women cadre in the PWG, he said several top naxalite
leaders including central leaders harassed, suppressed and
molested women members. He said naxalites pass several
resolutions at their plenaries for the upliftment of the women,
but in the dalam itself women are victimised. He alleged that
dalam leaders had turned into rapists.
Asked about the Koyyur encounter, he said it was like any other
encounter and pointed out that ``the PWG's wrong policies and
differences among the leaders had led to the encounter of top
leaders.''
Asked about the Anupuram Komoraiah (AK), the present DCM, who
issued threatening letters to him, he said that ``AK cannot work
and he is unfit. He acts at the diktats of central leaders.''
The former naxalites, Mr. Madhu, Mr. Vijay, Narsanna, and Madhav,
were present.
