India finishes 12th
MUMBAI, JULY 26. The Indian boys put up a pathetic performance
and lost the positional match to Malaysia 58-101, after trailing
15-59 at half-time, and finished a poor 12th in the Asian under-
18 basketball championship in Kuala Lumpur today.
For the Indians, consistent performer Trideep Rai (12), skipper
Apoorva Sontakke (9) and P. Bhubalan (8) did the bulk of the
scoring.
Yemen, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Singapore finished 13th to 16th in
that order.
In the quarterfinal league match, Chinese Taipei pipped Japan 78-
73, after leading 34-32 at the breather. However, both have made
it to the last four stage.
In the positional matches Hong Kong-China beat Kuwait 69-54,
after leading 37-30 at half-time.
