PATNA, JULY 26. The three-day strike by 18,000 policemen was
called off today with the State Government withdrawing the

had joined the agitation.
Mr. Jha said the Government had assured to sympathetically
consider their demands within 15 days. All members of the
association, including inspectors, sub-inspectors and assistant
sub-inspectors would join duty with immediate effect, he added.
The BPA had decided to go on mass casual leave for seven days
from the midnight of July 23 in support of their demands, which
included introduction of payscale on par with that of Delhi
police, checking political interference in their functioning,
compensation to families of policemen who had lost their lives in
encounters.
